In June of 2000, the Outreach was able to open a small resale shop using donations of gently used clothing and other items selected from the generous donations made by the community. In Feb 2001 the shop moved to the Evergreen North Shopping Center and within a few months had proven valuable to our community as customer traffic doubled. Prices attract the general public as well, especially in this time of economic stress. Donations are received on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday mornings.

Items which are selected for resale are usually not appropriate for the clients’ needs, need dry cleaning, or have been donated directly for resale by the donor. If an individual client requires items not available at the Outreach, they are given a voucher to present at the Resale Shop to shop for the items needed. Good quality furniture is now also available in our expanded premises.

Net proceeds from the EChO Resale Shop are used by the Outreach to help to meet the financial
needs of the more than 240 client households served each quarter. In 2002, this helped to provide for preventing homelessness for many families, licensed day care for working single parents, medications for the uninsured, the purchase of meat for the many not eligible for food stamps, and for help with utilities not covered by LEAP or CEAF.
